YOCOYA is a Los Angeles based 5 piece Latin jazz fusion group. YOCOYA plays original music inspired by the musics of Mexico, Cuba, American blues, and Contemporary Jazz . The musical vision of YOCOYA blends the harmonic and improvisational concepts of Jazz with the rhythmic and melodic phrasing of Latin music to create cinematic, sophisticated, and melodically driven compositions. YOCOYA is a 2025 NewMuisc USA Grant recipient and has had their music featured in independent on KCRW’s “Just Jazz” Radio series, KJazz 88.1, and CJSW 90.9, YOCOYA was featured in Downbeat Magazine for winning best composition for their original piece “Murcielago” in 2021. YOCOYA has opened up for Grammy award winner Poncho Sanchez, and is a 2024 International Songwriting competition Finalist, and a 2023 Unsigned Only Competition Finalist.
